Nobuko Shigeyama

Nobuko is a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee and graduate student at Palo Alto University, where she is pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She holds B.A. degrees in Integrated Educational Studies and Japanese Language and Culture, as well as an M.A. in Elementary Education from Chapman University.
Prior to transitioning into psychotherapy, Nobuko spent years as a credentialed elementary educator and literacy specialist. Her clinical work is informed by her background in education, caregiving, and mind-body wellness. Having lived in both Japan and South Korea, she also brings an international perspective to her practice, appreciating how culture, community, and intersecting identities shape our lived experiences.
Nobuko approaches therapy with warmth, compassion, and a grounded presence. She strives to cultivate a welcoming, supportive environment where clients can explore meaningful possibilities for growth and healing. Meeting clients wherever they are on their journey, she honors each person's unique story and values the diverse perspectives and relationships that shape their lives.
In her free time, Nobuko enjoys spending time in nature, meditating, practicing Qigong, reading, and connecting with her loved ones and her senior Yorkie.
